Trump Blew Up the Better Deal and Came Back Calling Defeat a Win

Trump’s Iran posture now looks like the purest form of self-inflicted failure: wreck a functioning framework, escalate into a wider crisis, then come back asking the public to celebrate a thinner, looser arrangement as if it were proof of genius. We lost. Not in the cartoon sense where somebody signs a surrender document on camera, but in the real sense that matters in politics and statecraft: the United States appears to be moving toward a deal that is visibly weaker than the one it already had, after paying the price of blowing the first one up.
