Live The Party Life Through EBT In California

Now of course, this video is parody with the artist Chapter playing the role of Keywanda extolling the ways of getting into the “big bucks” of financial assistance from the government but the topic is real. As they say across the pond, brilliant!

Keywanda is having the time of her life. Her job is raising her family of 10 children while dealing with the drama and stress of the childrens fathers. Thanks to the great state of California, Keywanda can support her lifestyle of having fun, getting “Turnt Up” and the kids can even get to eat from time to time.

Chapter -plays roles in her music videos using “Satire” which is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement.[1] Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.

Just a few months back we saw KFC parent Yum! Brands petitioning Kentucky to allow people to be able to use EBT/Food Stamps in their restaurants. That long list of eateries read off by Keywanda in the beginning of the video shows that apparently California already allows it in many places.

Fast food or restaurants period should not be acceptable places to use financial assistance money and especially not liquor stores. Personally I don’t believe most grocery store items should be allowed either, such as chips, cookies or ice cream. This is federal tax payer assistance money given to people in need that require a little bit of extra help not lifestyle income. The goal is general support not sole income. Unfortunately some people think like the character Keywanda and take advantage of the system creating an overload and cumbersome financial burden on the available budget allotted. Laws that allow these non-essential establishments to process EBT and food stamp payments as well as the corporations that petition for the ability only feed into the problem. This all culminates in making the solution of using this assistance as a stepping stone in hard times a less attractive option than collecting the free income it provides. No I’m not Republican.

I’m all for the availability of Welfare, EBT, WIC and food stamps but they shouldn’t be expanded to lifestyle monies. Living off of these support systems shouldn’t be more attractive than earning a living if possible. Luxury non-essentials like restaurants or snack items shouldn’t be included on the acceptable purchase list.

Liquor Store EBT

Until then I suppose, “it’s free, swipe yo EBT.” SMH.
